This 240V Battery Charger, designed for use with 48V lead-acid battery systems, is perfect for use with access platforms, forklifts and similar appliances with a battery capacity in the region of 250-500Ah.
The overall rating of this charger is 1500VA, offering a 48V D.C. charge at 30A.
Originally developed as a charger to the access platforms market, these reliable designs have now seen active service for over 25 years.
Over that time, there have been design improvements, which allow for a 3 year warranty on our entire charger range.

Charging information
The battery capacity range of 250-500Ah is calculated on the below factors:
- The lower limit of a lead-acid battery is a minimum of a 20% residual charge.
- At the upper limit the chargers are programmed, as standard, to achieve a 90% charge. This minimises gassing and therefore reduces battery maintenance (this can be adjusted to 100% on request).
- Charge limit is also defined by a charge time of 12 hours maximum, allowing for an uninterrupted overnight charge.
The charge pattern follows a bulk – balance – float – trickle sequence, with the charge control system monitoring the battery charge state as it progresses through the charge pattern.
At the end of the charge cycle, there is also LED feedback on the battery condition, marked by the pulse speed of the LED.

This 240V Battery Charger’s 3 year warranty is possible due to the internal modules within the charger each being protected against water damage, which allows for the outer case to be IP21 rated. This reduced rating of the outer case allows protection against water, but more importantly, allows water to escape. This fundamental difference from other chargers in the market place leads to a much longer service life of the charger than the competition.
Another unique point to this charger range is the simplicity of repair.
The internals of the charger are grouped into 4 modular parts, making repair affordable, quick and an easy process, reducing down-time.
